Incredulous

Incredulous I am not!  I spoke to my older brother today and learned that our 86-year-old mother received a certified letter from the family member who this past November recently threatened her.  The content of the letter informed her that what had once been her home was now going to become rental property in January of 2011.  It also informed her that if there were any items still in the house that she wanted, she would need to remove them immediately.

Okay, "thanks" for the warning.  The letter also stated that they wanted her to pay the property taxes that were due earlier during December of 2010.  Yes, this is the same house that she does not own.  Yes, this is the same house that she was threatened to be kicked out of if she honored the subpoena and testified in court regarding a case the city had filed against the respective family member.  Yes, this is the same house where her life was threatened.  Yes, this is the same house that present owner said once she and dad signed the house over to them, that she and/or dad could live out their remaining years.

Hooray for the certified letter!  Can there be any greater proof of evil-intent towards our mother?  Hooray for the certified letter!  Can there be any greater proof that my mother's testimony is not to be questioned?

AND

yes, hooray for the certified letter, it has enraged my dear mother and has clarified succinct for her the abuse she has endured from her abuser. Oh thank you sender of the certified letter, your work has surgically cut the strings of confusion and disbelief.

$#*^@*# believe it!!

Slimed

Unfortunately the court's process slimes the innocent while protecting the rights of the accused.  My mother had to provide a deposition to the defendant's attorney to establish probable cause for injunction against the accused.  This event is done at considerable cost to the defendant.  The deposition was administered with some irregularities!

The venue for the deposition was done in the office of the attorney for the defendant.  Okay, so?  My mother's advocate for domestic abuse was not informed as to the location for the deposition, and the defendant was in close proximity of my mother (in violation of at least the "spirit" of the restraining order).

Thank God for the guy wearing the "white hat", my older brother.  When he spied the vehicle of the defendant parked at the attorney's office he called the advocate and the DA stating that mother would not give her deposition with the defendant present.  The advocate was irate for being kept in the dark about the location for the deposition.  The DA insisted to my brother that the deposition had to be given and my "white hatted" brother insisted on the conditions that had to be met before our mother would come forth.  My older brother who has been involved in other court depositions pointed out to the DA that it was most unusual for the deposition to take place outside the courthouse and in the hostile territory of the attorney's office for the defense.  He proceeded to take photos to the great discomfort of the DA.

YIKES!!  So this is how you treat an 86-year-old mother who has after decades of being a silent victim of domestic abuse comes forward and reports an assault? What had the defendant's attorney and DA have planned for my mother?  Was it collusion for expedience?

Jailhouse Conversion

The family member responsible for abusing my 86-year-old mother had a religious conversion while locked-up in jail.  How timely and convenient.  He is now free on bond and walking the streets.

This conversion reminds me of the many past religious experiences this same individual has had when they were in trouble!  A God so easily mocked is not.

I am also aware that this individual is not the only scoundrel to find either politics or religion as their last refuge.  Personally, I doubt seriously that a God would take kindly to being used as a fire escape!
