Blessings

Inspiration comes in many forms and from many sources.  That is the beauty and awe of the creative forces.  When you remain open to the countless opportunities, the unexpected can become an art form.

Last week a friend heard an arrangement of a pre-existing tune I had created for the New South String Quartet.  Their comment was, "should you ever want to do another inspirational tune, please write one for my middle school string orchestra."

Touché!

A week later Blessings was created and the friend has score and parts for middle school string orchestra.  The piece is well balanced for each section of the orchestra.  Each section is required to play from their respective lower to upper strings.  The students will need to play senza vibrato as well as with vibrato.  It is an excellent example of string pedagogy using string literature.   They will perform this composition at the MMENC early 2011.
